What Prethera Is

Prethera is a therapy companion app that helps adults reflect between therapy sessions through journaling, session reflections, and session preparation. It is not medical software and does not provide diagnoses, treatment recommendations, or crisis counseling.

Data We Collect

  • Account information: Email address, first name, and a hashed password (we cannot read your password).
  • Content you create: Journal entries, session reflections, session prep entries, mood data, and tags.
  • Usage data: Monthly counts of AI calls, journal entries, and voice minutes used (for plan limit enforcement).
  • Preferences: Timezone, reminder settings, therapy framework preferences, and therapy track names.
  • Support conversations: Messages you send through the in-app support chat.

How We Store Your Data

Your data is stored in a PostgreSQL database hosted by Supabase (AWS us-east-1 region) with SSL encryption in transit and AES-256 encryption at rest. Your entries are scoped to your account and are inaccessible to other users. Admins can see account metadata (email, plan, usage stats) but cannot read your journal entries, reflections, or session prep content.

AI Processing

When you use AI-powered features (summaries, theme analysis, pre-session recaps, personalized guiding questions, or support chat), selected text is sent to Google's Gemini API to generate responses. This text is processed in real time and is not stored by Google for training purposes under their API terms. The AI never diagnoses, recommends treatment, or provides crisis counseling.

Voice Journaling

If you use voice journaling (Pro plan), audio is recorded in your browser, sent to Google Cloud Speech-to-Text for transcription, and immediately discarded after the transcript is returned. We do not store audio recordings.

Email

We use Resend to send transactional emails: journal reminders, session prep reminders, password reset links, and support reply notifications. You can unsubscribe from reminder emails at any time via the link in each email or in Settings.

Cookies

We use a single session cookie (therapy_companion_session) to keep you logged in. This is a strictly necessary cookie — we do not use analytics, advertising, or third-party tracking cookies.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes. Your data is only processed by the infrastructure providers listed above (Supabase, Google AI, Resend) as necessary to operate the service.

Your Rights

  • Access: You can view all your data within the app.
  • Deletion: You can permanently delete your account and all associated data from Settings > Danger Zone. This action is irreversible and removes all entries, preferences, usage data, and support conversations.
  • Correction: You can edit your entries and update your account information at any time.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as the product evolves. Significant changes will be communicated through the app. Continued use of Prethera after changes constitutes acceptance.
