Is this a replacement for therapy?
Absolutely not. Prethera is designed to complement your work with a therapist, not replace it. Think of it as a structured way to reflect between sessions so you arrive prepared and get more from your time together.
Will my therapist see what I write?
No. Your entries are completely private. We never share your data with therapists, insurers, employers, or anyone else. You choose what to bring to your sessions.
How does the AI work? Is it safe?
The AI generates summaries and identifies recurring themes across your journal entries. It does not diagnose conditions, provide treatment recommendations, or offer therapeutic advice. It's a reflection tool, not a clinician.
Can I use this if I'm not currently in therapy?
Yes. While Prethera is designed with therapy in mind, the journaling and reflection tools are valuable for anyone exploring their inner landscape, whether you're in therapy, considering it, or simply want a structured way to reflect.
What happens in a crisis?
Prethera is not a crisis tool. If you're in crisis, please contact emergency services (911) or the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. We surface crisis resources prominently throughout the app.
What happens to my data?
Your data is stored in a secure, encrypted PostgreSQL database hosted by Supabase with SSL encryption in transit and AES-256 encryption at rest. We never sell, share, or use your data for advertising. Your entries are scoped to your account and inaccessible to other users. You can delete your entire account and all associated data at any time from Settings.
What are personalized guiding questions?
On the upgraded plan, Prethera uses AI to generate tailored reflection prompts based on your recent journal entries. Instead of generic questions, you'll see prompts that connect to what you've actually been working through, grounded in established therapeutic frameworks like CBT, ACT, IFS, and others. You can customize which frameworks influence your prompts in Settings.
How much does it cost?
There's a generous free plan that covers most users. The upgraded plan, for a fraction of what a single therapy session costs, unlocks more entries, deeper analysis, and advanced features like personalized guiding questions.
Can I install Prethera as an app?
Yes. Prethera is a Progressive Web App, so you can add it to your iPhone, iPad, Android, or desktop home screen. It launches in its own window with no browser chrome, faster than a bookmark. On iPhone: open in Safari, tap the Share button, then "Add to Home Screen." On Android: open in Chrome, look for the install banner. See /install for step-by-step instructions.
